Antique photograph of a coupleFamily history research has been my passion for over 20 years. In my spare time, I poured through books in libraries and squinted at microfilm in archives across the US and abroad and spent hundreds of hours at courthouses.

I have volunteered my expertise to the Indiana State Library and Family Search to make many resources available to people across the globe.

Gravestone of James Weeks, a Civil War Veteran, discovered by Michelle Andrews of Genance

Headstone of James Weeks, a Revolutionary War soldier. Died age 82 years. Husband of Priscilla Higgins, Mayflower descendant. Father of Lydia (Weeks) Moody (1777-1861) who is buried at Deavertown Baptist Church Cemetery, Morgan County, Ohio.

This is the photo of the headstone of the Revolutionary War Veteran that the family out of state wanted me to get a picture for them. They knew what cemetery it was in as he was listed on find a grave but no photo was available. They asked me to please go there and to photograph the headstone for them. Upon my arrival there and the walk through row by row I couldn't locate it. It was then that I went to the Maine State Library and looked up cemeteries in Monmouth. It was there that I found an old map of the cemetery. I photocopied the map and left the library. The next day I went back and counted the rows back and the headstones across to where the stone should have been. It was nothing but a huge patch of grass. I counted to the 7th stone across and started to probe the ground to see if I could locate it. It was only a little ways under the surface so I removed all the sod that lay on top of the stone and then cleaned the stone. It was broken at the based so it couldn't stand upright but other than that it was in perfect shape. It was then that I noticed that James Weeks had no military acknowledgement on his stone. I told the family that I would see to it that he would receive proper military acknowledgement and am currently in the process of obtaining that. The Seller family has his full Revolutionary War File so I was able to pass that on to the proper officials so James will have his official recognition for his service.

Michelle, Thank you for going above and beyond as most would have quit after not finding it the first time. Your dedication and determination to find this for our family is so appreciated and we are glad to have worked with you. We can't thank you enough for doing this for us. We didn't know he never had the military stone or acknowledgment for his service.
